The DP Digamma is an unusual one-off modified Coil Savanna making its first appearance in Nexus City: AKT III. It is Blake Johnson's default vehicle in AKT IV, and AKT III, and is passed to Mikaela Van Buren sometime before AFTERMATH. It shares its frame with the Coil Savanna, having been built from a 20457 DP Superior

The Digamma came about as a result of an incident in Early 20492, during the interwar period between WWV and WWVI, where the DP Superior was shot out of the sky by a non-nuclear ICBM over Leningrádskaja Óblasť when a radar operator mistook the Superior for a Finnish Air Force RO-86 Alkonost.

Appearance, Design & Inspiration[]

The DP Digamma is based off of the Tesla Cybertruck and some design cues are taken from the DeLorean DMC-12 Time Machine from Back to The Future, most notably the variable-height anti-gravity repulsors replacing the Cybertruck wheels. The nature of this vehicle is based off of the Anti-Gravity Ships from the WipEout series by Psygnosis.

The whole hull and chassis of the Digamma was rebuilt out of two layers of β-Ti3Au1Cr9W7, an alloy of beta-Ti3Au (Exceptionally hard alloy of Titanium and Gold), Chromium and Tungsten, making it exceptionally hard and exceptionally tough. A thin sheet of Kevlar is sandwiched between both layers of alloy, for bulletproofing. As a result of the choice of material, the Digamma is 5 times heavier than the Superior, but more durable. In addition to that, the shields are strengthened beyond the maximum available strength of the Superior.

The WR-91 Jet Engine from the Superior was replaced by a WR-99 Afterburning Pulse-Ramjet, increasing the EG-less top speed. An 8.2L V14 gasoline engine from an Emperor LandEater F is installed into the car, for low-speed travel. The V14 itself is not powerful enough to propel the car up to 576.24km/h, so it works in conjunction with the Jet Engine, using it as a sort of exhaust/afterburner to increase power by supercharging the exhaust fumes and firing them out at such high speeds that it adds to the thrust produced. In addition, a second, more powerful 15.0L W18 diesel engine from a Vulcan Antares is installed alongside the Karin 8.2L V14. This engine itself can propel the car up to 783km/h without the use of the Jet Engine. As a result, this vehicle is a 4-Way Hybrid.

The maximum speed the vehicle can attain without automatically lifting is 638km/h. Above that speed, aircraft/spacecraft controls for pitch/yaw/roll automatically engage (Left Analog Stick & Bumper Buttons on consoles;Numpad/U,H,J,K and A & D on PC/Mac/Linux)

The Antimatter collection/containment tank is moved to the front of the car, causing the rear trunk to be useable again. However, it has to be opened from the side, as the tailgate is unuseable due to the jet engine and electro-gravitron systems. Still, the cargo space is lackluster, as both Internal Combustion Engines rest under the trunk.

The top speed of the car is 2469.6km/h (Mach 2) using only the central jet engine, and 37044km/h (Mach 30) using ramjet and electro-gravitron system.

There are two Pulse Dynamo cannons concealed within the front side bumpers of the car. Pressing the drive-by weapon aim button (PlayStation L1 Button/Xbox LB Button [Also for Apple TV]/Right Mouse Button on PC/Mac/Linux) will reveal the cannons. They shoot 20 electromagnetically-charged ion projectiles every second.

Drive modes can be changed in Interaction Menu (Hold Touchbar on PS/Hold View Button on Xbox & Apple TV/M on PC, Mac & Linux).

Appearances[]

The OPT Digamma appears in Grand Theft Auto: Nexus City AKT III/AKT IV, and is Blake’s default car. It cannot be lost from his possession and is his permanently.

It also appears in Nexus City AFTERMATH as Mikaela Van Buren's personal vehicle.

Trivia[]

  • The default radio station for the Digamma is Kobaïa Radiöh.
  • There is no possible way to spawn the Digamma in 20462 Mode free-roam without the DLC Pack (Except for Complete Edition), as the files for the Digamma are only present in the DLCs. Even then, the only way to spawn the Digamma in 20462 Mode is to use cheats.
  • The original concept for the Digamma featured 2 Dark Drives instead of the EG Engines. Logically this would have meant a hypothetical top speed of 1 light second per hour (299792km/h, Mach 242.786), considering how 1 Dark Drive is already exceptionally powerful, but 2 can easily propel 50 tons of matter theoretically up to the speed of light, however this would not be possible as the Dark Drives used on the concept Digamma (As tested in the AKT III Beta) were downrated to Mach 243.
  • The throttle mechanism for the Digamma's pulse-ramjet is rather unusual, being a foot-controlled throttle lever, where the acceleration pedal was, and the brakes are radial airbrakes that are deployed using the brake pedal (or alternatively, the paddles behind the steering wheel).
  • This is the only vehicle from DP that is unlocked with your phone (as any Coil vehicle is unlocked using your phone).
  • Due to its already unusually high top speed (thus making it the fastest car in the HD Universe), the DP Digamma is unable to get any engine upgrades.
  • As noted by many of the passengers, there is a significant thud when the Electro-Gravitron Propulsion System is engaged above Mach 1. Blake doesn't seem to notice, probably due to being partially detached from his surroundings.
    • However, the rattling the Superior had was erased.
  • The engine sounds for when below 1174km/h are similar to the sounds the Van-Über ship in WipEout Omega Collection makes. Between 1174km/h and 2469.4km/h it starts to sound like the Icaras ship, while above 2469.6km/h it starts sounding like the Goteki 45 ship. Upon reaching 4939.2km/h, the sounds change to that of a distorted rocket engine.
  • Unusually, the V14's sound rather resembles that of a truck engine, while the W18 is more of a deep Bugatti WR16-like sound, due to a probable coding error. In the 2024 Re-Release of the Complete Edition these sounds switch places.
