Dennis Oak is a young, eager, and somewhat naïve recruit who starts his journey in Merryweather Security but eventually becomes a loyal ally to Miklos Lipton.

As the son of Melvin Oak, the well-known and eccentric clerk of the Ammu-Nation store in Sandy Shores, Dennis grew up around guns, action movies, and FPS video games, which fueled his dream of becoming a soldier of fortune.

Despite his small stature and lack of real combat experience, Dennis brings boundless enthusiasm and energy to any mission he joins, albeit sometimes to the annoyance of his allies.

By 2023, Dennis has grown into a more seasoned operative, working alongside Miklos, Johnson, and Otto Matic for Cerberus Security, though he retains his youthful optimism and loyalty to Miklos.

Background

Dennis was born and raised in Sandy Shores, where his father, Melvin Oak, runs the local Ammu-Nation store. Growing up surrounded by firearms and military paraphernalia, Dennis developed a fascination with the military and dreamed of becoming a hero. His father often indulged his interests, letting him practice at the store's shooting range and teaching him about different weapons.

Relationships

Miklos Lipton

Dennis views Miklos as a mentor and role model, always eager to prove himself and earn Miklos's respect. Miklos, while often annoyed by Dennis's enthusiasm, comes to rely on him for his loyalty and determination. Dennis idolizes Miklos and often refers to him as "Mikkey", "Big M", or "Boss," despite Miklos's repeated objections.

Perry Harris

“Perry freaks me out, man. He's got that supervillain vibe, y'know?”

Dennis harbors a deep dislike for Perry Harris, describing him as a manipulative bastard with an unsettling aura. To Dennis, Perry embodies a high school bully mentality, treating those around him, like Miklos and himself, as mere pawns to command. Oak is particularly wary of Perry's attempts to assert dominance, interpreting his behavior as both controlling and disturbingly personal, to the point where he suspects Perry might even want to molest him, making Oak uncomfortable and distrustful of him.

King of the Hill

Dennis serves as comic relief and a loyal sidekick to Miklos throughout his journey in Los Santos. He provides backup during missions, offers enthusiastic support, and often unintentionally brings a touch of chaos to otherwise serious situations. As the story progresses, Dennis proves himself to be a valuable ally, growing into a capable operative who is willing to put himself in harm's way for Miklos.

Duty Calls

“I'm s-sorry, sir. This area is restricted to civilians.”

Dennis Oak makes his first appearance as the nervous yet eager young soldier manning the gate at Fort Zancudo. Barely out of his teens, Dennis is a scrawny recruit with an oversized helmet and a constant air of anxiety. Dennis lets Miklos into the Fort and guides him to Corporal Johnson.

Run, You Fools

“Y-you're Private Lipton, r-right? The new guy? Glad to meet you, sir! I was the new guy, b-before you! How are you liking it here?”

Dennis Oak struggles to keep up during a grueling run around Fort Zancudo. Barely 18, Oak huffs and stumbles through introductions with Miklos Lipton, his new "Battle Buddy", nervously chatting about their roles and the tough leadership of Matic. By the end of the race, Miklos wins decisively while Oak collapses in exhaustion, dead last, and is forced to run another lap, leaving Miklos questioning Oak's potential as an ally.

Be Polite

“No... Back off Harris! You're scaring me, man! You're crazy, man! Completely nuts!”

Dennis bolts out of the barracks after an unsettling encounter with Perry Harris, his face pale and his movements jittery. Feeling molested and overwhelmed, Dennis's discomfort and fear of Perry's manipulative behavior drive him to flee in a panic.

Ride to Hell

“Mikkey!? You actually called me!? Hell yeah, I'm free! What's the mission? Extraction? Recon? Heavy assault?!

Pain Train

“Mikkey, wake up! Come on, man, we've gotta get out of here!”

Dennis accompanied Miklos on the cargo train escort and spotted the hijacker boarding the train. During the chaotic chase he contacted Merryweather and let them know. After the crash in the dark tunnel, Dennis pulled Miklos from the wrecked Mesa, guiding him through debris. When Miklos collapsed, Dennis tearfully carried him, saving his life.

Hide and Seek

“Oh my god, you're alive! I thought... I thought you were dead!”

Dennis Oak burst into the infirmary and hugged Miklos with tearful relief, stammering about how he thought he was dead. Miklos praised Dennis for saving his life. The young private lit up, his trembling smile revealing his admiration for Miklos, whose grudging respect for the kid's sincerity began to grow.

Quotes

“Man, this is like Righteous Slaughter 6 come to life! Except, y'know, way scarier!”
“You can always count on me, Big M! I'm like your... sidekick! Or your co-hero!”
“Born ready! So much exp! LETS FUCKING KILL EM!!!”
Ride to Hell
“One day, I'll be the best mercenary the world has ever seen. Maybe even better than you, Miklos!”
