Fisher Squadron is a freelance mercenary squadron that appears in Grand Theft Auto Online, added in the Air Superiority update.

Description[]

Fisher Squadron was established at an unknown point in time, but likely after Joseph Korez was discharged from the Royal Canadian Air Force. At some point, Mayumi Yoshiwara joined the squadron after leaving the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.

The squadron's tasks were known to be dangerous and wide-ranging, with their assignments ranging from uneventful cargo flights to intense ground attacks against anti-air emplacements. Due to this, almost all pilots except Mayumi were either killed in action or left due to the danger.

During an unknown mission in Eastern Europe, the squadron was double-crossed by their client, forcing Korez and Mayumi to fight their way out of the region with low fuel, ending with them crash-landing at London Heathrow Airport.

Some time later, Fisher Squadron experienced a severe lack of pilots, resulting in them going dormant for several years.

Events of Grand Theft Auto Online[]

In 2022, Fisher Squadron approaches the GTA Online Protagonist with an offer to join their squadron. The player accepts, meeting Korez and Mayumi at Sandy Shores Airfield. After proving their worth by stealing technology from Merryweather, the player is officially inducted into the squadron, using the player's Hangar as their base.

Fisher Squadron is eventually deployed across San Andreas to assist several clients, stopping rival smugglers from operating in the area, allowing the Triads to conduct a high-value trade, assassinating a corrupt billionaire, fighting an overseas cartel, covering a law enforcement operation against a militarized crime syndicate, stopping a rogue Air Force squadron from defecting with sensitive intel, assisting a covert nautical operation, and preventing a false-flag attack from the government.

Afterwards, Fisher Squadron is hired by the San Andreas National Guard. Colonel Branden informs the squadron that the item that was traded by the Triads is actually a WMD that eventually ended up in the hands of an international terrorist group, and that several prior missions were actually either related to the terrorists or were attempts to stop them. The terrorists plan to use the WMD to destroy the Port of Los Santos, preventing Los Santos from conducting maritime trade, potentially sparking an economic crisis and chaos in the state. Fisher Squadron and the National Guard deploy to combat the terrorists. The squadron manages to destroy the WMD and defeat the terrorists, ending the crisis.

Despite Branden ordering them to cease operations afterwards, Fisher Squadron still operates.

Uniform[]

Fisher Squadron's uniform consists of a grey-and-red flight suit with the squadron's patch on the shoulders and a black flight helmet. This uniform is unlocked for the player after they complete Operation Delta Wing for the first time.

Above the visor of each helmet is the pilot's callsign. Korez's callsign is "Scout", and Mayumi's callsign is "Ditch". The player's helmet does not have a callsign, displaying the squadron's insignia instead.
