Grand Theft Auto Online: Heists Part Two is a content update for Grand Theft Auto Online, released in January 2023.

Description[]

It's time to get back to your planning rooms and get ready. You started as a newcomer to a big city, and you've risen to the level of a criminal mastermind - but now the Mafia need your help, there's no better time to get back to business. Four new heists and an array of new vehicles, characters and rewards await in GTA Online: Heists Part Two.

Heists Part Two is the fifth heist update for GTA Online. It was first teased in May 2022 when cardboard boxes with a stylised version of the 'HP2' abbreviation starting spawning in several locations on the map, primarily Fort Zancudo and Los Santos International Airport. Although these hints were not noticed by much of the player base, once several popular social media users had picked up the story, the hype train for the then-supposed Heists Part Two got traction. It wasn't long before another set of hints would arrive in GTA Online. In July of the same year, the planning rooms inside high-end apartments were updated to feature a pen on the desk with the same HP2 icon on them. The month afterwards would include more hints - amusingly, the most widely known one of these was the HP2 icon being added to the inside of the Dump's wheels, which could only be seen by bursting its tyres. Eventually, on Boxing Day 2022, the first trailer for Heists Part Two was released, confirming what many players had already been expecting. The update was released in late January the next year, for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series S/X, and PC.

Heists Part Two allows players to plan, prepare and execute brand new heists across San Andreas, which require good communication with other players. Each player may take on a specific role in order to successfully complete the heists.

Plot[]

There are four new heists included in this update. Unlike past heist updates, these heists are closer to the first set of heists from 2015, which was a choice made by Rockstar North to avoid 'jumping the shark'. They revolve around the lives of the prosperous Rossolini family (their name being a reference to Burnout Paradise), who are on the run after the ISEA (the GTA equivalent of Italy's AISE) started taking down some of their illicit businesses across Europe. The family is formed of Enzo Rossolini, an audacious mob boss who has brought his family to Los Santos for their protection; his wife Sienna, a former model who retired to take care of her children; their daughter Luna, a university graduate who appears to want to distance herself from her father despite running many of his operations; and their slightly younger son Basilio, a spoilt gallivanting rich kid with more money than sense.

Other new characters include Gracie, a hacker and close friend of the Rossolinis, and Aniyah Akel, an IAA agent who is tasked with shutting down the Rossolini family.

The player is introduced to the family in the opening cutscene, where at the airport, Enzo and his family are walking towards the exit, Enzo sees the player and walks other to them and explains that the family has some issues that need sorting out and that somebody informed him that the player was the perfect person for the job. As the player completes more of the heists, more of the Rossolini family's backstory is revealed. In the third heist, the player is also involved with the IAA, which the player can later choose to help in the fourth heist by killing Enzo Rossolini, which will change the rewards of the heist and the ending of the storyline.

There are four new heists in GTA Online: Heists Part Two, where the player works for Mafia boss Enzo Rossolini while he is in hiding.

Vehicles[]

33 new vehicles have been added. Not all vehicles are available at launch; at least ten are added to GTA Online as 'dripfeed' content, with one of more cars being added once per week. The vehicle list is divided into new-to-series vehicles and ones returning from past games, largely GTA IV.

New Vehicles[]

Vehicles From Past Games[]

Second Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack[]

With the release of Heists Part Two, a new Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack was released. This new pack includes different content to the original pack (over $30,000,000 worth of in-game content), but the old one can still be purchased. New copies of GTA V will come with the Second Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack instead.

Soundtrack[]

Heists Part Two is a large musical update for GTA Online. While the heists themselves use remixed music from the original Heists update, many new songs have been added to existing radio stations, and three brand new radio stations have also been added - SuperAmbient Radio, PowerStation and American Radio.

Stock Market[]

The stock markets available on Bawsaq and LCN have been enabled for use in GTA Online. When linked to a Social Club account, players can buy and sell shares to make (or lose) money. The values of shares will change universally between all supported versions of GTA Online. Unlike in single player, the stock market is not affected by in-game events or updates. In some cases, the shares of companies will try to match the share price of their real-world equivalent. New companies have also been added to the stock market in GTA Online only.

Reception[]

Heists Part Two won't reinvent the wheel, but what is does bring to GTA Online are fun (if predictable) heists and some updates to the core game we desperately needed.
IGN UK
In a game that has a reputation of trying to jump the shark as much GTA Online, Heists Part Two is a breath of fresh air. It's still got the signature GTA Online air of whimsy, but this time it's much more grounded than the sometimes ridiculous past updates like The Doomsday Heist.
Nerd³
GTA Online is getting old now - its engine is clunky, and its players aren't much to be proud of. But, in the unlikely event that this is GTA Online's last update, this is the best possible way for it to go. Heists Part Two is a reliable, competent set of missions definitely worth a play.
Metro

Before its release, Heists Part Two was met with skepticism from some community members and media outlets for not innovating much on past heist DLCs. However, the DLC had a much warmer reception upon its release. Many players complimented the internal upgrades to GTA Online and the heists making use of content already in the game instead of using new content. However, some found the addition of the Second Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack unnecessary.
