Control, Command and Conquer! |
The Anti-Defiance Squad (ADS) is a highly trained paramilitary task force operating under the directive of the Eden City Constabulary and personally under Chief Constable Scotty O'Sullivan.
Formed in 1964, the ADS was designed and armed to handle situations deemed too dangerous for standard law enforcement, focusing on urban warfare, shootouts, standoffs, hostage-takings, terrorist incidents, high-risk tactical interventions, civil unrests and protests, and most notably counter-gang operations.
The Anti-Defiance Squad features in Grand Theft Auto: Gangland
Description
The Anti-Defiance Squad (ADS) comprises 34 specialized units, with nearly 700 full-time members, including squad members, Inspectors, and technical support teams. Strategically positioned across New Zealand's key regions and urban centers, the ADS operates as the nation's elite response force for high-risk situations. By 2020, over half of the ADS's personnel were redeployed to Eden City, a move prompted by the escalating influence of the city’s criminal underworld.
Squads are stationed 24/7 as an oppressive force, primarily guarding government buildings, major banks, and critical infrastructure. These squads operate with a near-military presence, projecting an aura of control and dominance over the city. This constant show of force is officially justified as a measure to protect vital assets and ensure public safety amidst the rising threat of organized crime. However, for many residents of Eden City, it feels more like a dystopian city under foreign siege, where every corner is under the watchful eye of the ADS.

Trivia
