The Player is the protagonist and player-controlled avatar in Grand Theft Auto: Gangland.

Name

The first step for new players is selecting the name of their Player. This name must include both a first and last name.

Players are free to operate under an alias, nickname, or entirely new identity. However, the character must still have a documented birth certificate on record, either real or forged depending on their Bio.

Players who choose to use their real-life first name as their avatar's first name can earn a small Legit Reward as a bonus. All names and nicknames are voiced.

Gender

Players can choose from three gender options:

Male

Female

Other

Gender significantly impacts gameplay, including physical appearance, attributes, interactions with the world, and how people and the environment respond to the player.

Players can earn a small Legit Reward if they select the gender matching their real-life identity.

The game starts with the cutscene which the ship is coming from Australia and arriving at port. Because of ship's whistle, the Player awakes and opens curtain of their room to see their new dreamland - New Zealand. Players cannot see the face of the Player inside sunshines, but before leaving the room, players now can customize the Player. See customization for more information.

Roles

For more information, see Roles.

After starting a new life or continuing one in Eden City, New Zealand, players must select one out of three Primary Roles.

Criminal

Civilian

Officer

The initial choice is significant to the playstyle, and is the general starting point of their life in Eden City. The roles are dynamic and can combine or intertwine but can also clash with each other. Following the roles can strengthen the Player's abilities, connections, and gain more reputation.

Players can earn a Large Legit Reward if they choose to randomly select a Primary Role.==Navigation==
