Grand Theft Auto: Blizzard City is 2016 action-adventure game developed by Rockstar North, and published by Rockstar Games. The game was released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on December 9, 2016.

The main character of the game is Victor Osbourne and the game is set in the year 2016 in Blizzard Island in the HD Universe.

Setting[]

The game takes place in 2016 and follows the story of 22-year-old Victor Osbourne. . The game mainly takes place in the eastern part of the province of Sagittarius, although the game features parts from the State of Liberty. The game takes place about three years after the Events of Grand Theft Auto V and eight years after the events of Grand Theft Auto IV.

The map was nearly double the size as Grand Theft Auto IV's map, with parts of Ontario and New York. Overall, the map has eight cities and towns. One of the cities featured in the game is Blizzard City which is the biggest city in the map and island.

Plot[]

At the beginning of the game, the protagonist is immediately placed into a high speed chase in Cookham. He then gets a call from one of his friends, Chloe. Chloe is curious of what Victor is doing and why he's in a high speed chase. He tells her that he set a Yakuza hideout ablaze, and after Yakuza got involved the police ended up getting involved as well. After Victor loses the police, he drove to Chloe's house in Cookham, where his friends, Ramsey and Fox we're also there watching a movie on the couch. He stayed there for a while before going back to his place in South Cookham.

Later in the game, Ramsey, Fox, Chloe and Victor are all planning a grand heist on the Blizzard-Empire Bank in downtown Blizzard City. But the group face severe difficulties such as the killing of Ramsey and the defection of Chloe, which leaves only Victor and Fox in the group.

Difficulties[]

Blizzard City also introduced difficulties. There are 6 difficulties which each get progressively harder.

  • Immortal - The player cannot die or lose health. The easiest difficulty in the game.
  • Easy - Gun bullets and weapons do minor damage to the player. The player also gets to retry from where they left off if they die in a mission.
  • Medium - Gun bullets and weapons do mild/moderate damage to the player (depending on the weapon). The player also gets to retry from where they left off if they die in a mission.
  • Hard - Gun bullets and weapons do heavy damage to the player. However, The player still gets to retry from where they left off if they die in a mission.
  • Extreme - Gun bullets and weapons do heavy damage to the player. If the player dies from the mission, they have to restart the mission and can't retry from where they left off.
  • Absurd - If the player dies, they have to restart the entire game from the first mission, PILOT. Also, gun bullets and weapons do heavy damage to the player.

Features added on Blizzard City[]

  1. NPCs in Blizzard City are more smarter, now they can fight with each-other, walk together in groups up to 10 and interact with shops. They (and police officers) can also react to the weather by using rain-coats, beanies and umbrellas when it is rainy or snowy
  2. The Playable character has a more advanced communication system with other NPCs, he can now Greet, Insult, Taunt, Dance, Compliment, Flirt or Apologize
  3. Nightclubs and Strip-clubs are only open at nightime (7pm-5am) in Blizzard City. At night time, only the janitors are seen cleaning the interior.
  4. More shops, hospitals and fast-food restaurants now have a visible interior and the player is able to eat in restaurants.
  5. Middle Schools and High Schools are now in Blizzard City. Children can be sees entering schools at 8am and exiting schools at 3pm.
  6. The pause menu map is now Eyefind Maps and can be put into many themes and colors (even a custom theme created by the character).
  7. Cops and police officers are not as hostile as in Grand Theft Auto V, they behave similarly to Grand Theft Auto IV police officers. For example, when a gun is pointed at them, instead of opening fire immediately, they demand the player or NPC to lower their weapon.
  8. Like in Grand Theft Auto IV and previous games, the wanted level now has a 6th additional star.
  9. After being caught by police a one star wanted level, the player is shown a wheel at the bottom-center of the screen. They can either surrender, run or fight the police.
  10. Glass has more realistic physics when broken. The glass can now shatter into several pieces.
  11. The player has 10 different reactions to snowy weather and 5 to rainy weather. For example, the player can rub their arms when it snows.
