These policies and rules apply to everyone here in the Grand Theft Auto Fanon Wiki.
Please read before editing here on the wiki.
Feel free to ask questions or share suggestions with the staff.

General Rules

Pages that violate these restrictions will be deleted immediately, and the user will receive a warning from staff. Repeated violations will result in bans.

Canon and Fanon

Canon is anything that is established in the GTA Universe (2D, 3D, HD, or further) by Rockstar Games themselves. You can use canonical elements in your works, just make sure to avoid the restrictions listed below.

Fanon are original ideas that are inspired by canon. You can make it as an expansion of their established universe (2D, 3D, HD, or further) or make your own universe/continuation (such as 4K Universe by JackJackson17).

No Leaked Materials

This is not the place for leaks. Do not include any unofficial leaks in your works.

No Direct Sequels

Do not name your works using the numeral system from the GTA mainline series (e.g., "Grand Theft Auto VII"). Only Rockstar can create games with those titles. Be original!

No Crossovers With Non-Rockstar Franchises

Crossovers between the GTA Universe and non-Rockstar media (e.g., other games, movies, shows, books) are not allowed. For example, creating "Grand Theft Auto: Saints Row" or "Grand Theft Auto: SpongeBob" is prohibited. However, Easter eggs and homages are acceptable.

Joke Articles/Silly Content

Please refrain from creating joke articles or poorly thought-out ideas, such as a GTA about a killer clown or animatronics, or a "Ryder x CJ’s mom" fanfiction, for example. This type of content is not suitable and will not be allowed.

Fanon and Fanfiction

Here are the types of content you can create on this wiki! Be sure to read “Policy: Articles” and “Tutorials” for guidance on how to write them properly.

Projects

Projects are elaborate fiction works around GTA Universe:

  • Community Projects - Fanmade games, DLCs, or fanfictions that are open for any user to collaborate.
  • Fangames - Fan made GTA titles or single-player expansions for existing GTA titles. Regarded as individual work of the author unless they invite collaborators.
  • Updates - Fan made GTA Online multiplayer contents. Regarded as individual work of the author unless they invite collaborators.
  • Fanfictions - Fan made stories set in the GTA universe, such as continuous stories, short stories, in-game events, and fangame’s missions.

Any projects that are a month or older may be included in the projects indexes with staff’s permission. Only well-written and well-organized projects can pass.

Other Contents

Other Contents are simpler fiction works which may or may not be parts of projects. This includes characters, factions, locations, brands like car manufacturers, vehicles, radio stations, and others.

Except for countries and cities that haven't been featured in post 2DU GTA series (such as London), you cannot create a page of things from the real-world (ex. no making a page about real-life figures).

Mods

Articles about downloadable modifications of GTA games (e.g., GTA Underground, DYOM missions, or PC mods) are not allowed on this wiki. However, you may use mods in multimedia formats to enhance your projects or content, such as creating a custom character model for your fanmade character. Please note, this is not a platform to advertise your mods.

Articles

Any article that does not meet the guidelines below (i.e. non-English, have poor grammar, or a copy of GTA Wiki's articles) will be deleted. First offense will result in a warning, second offense is a 1-3 month block. Third offense after the first block results in an infinite block. So please read first before making an article.

Making an article

If you are new here, please ask permission of any staff first before making any project/content. Message them with some words of what you're planning to add into the wiki or post it on our Discussion Forum).

Article's Title

  • Every article must have a proper title.
  • If your article happens to have a similar title to an existing article, you must include “(author username/project name)” in your article’s title to distinguish it. For example: Family Ties and Family Ties (KoTH).
  • If your article is a different version of an existing canonical element, you must include “(author username/project name)” in your article’s title. For example: El Burro (SFTB) or Los Santos (Los Santos Chronicles)

Originality

  • Do not publish the works of someone else from outside the wiki without their consent.
  • Do not copy and paste articles from the GTA Wiki, please respect the GTA Wiki contributors. In the case of a canon article, you only have to write down what you’ve changed. For example, If you want to make a GTA V’s expansion fangame about Franklin Clinton’s past, you only need to write about his role in the fangame, no need to copy-paste his existing info from GTA Wiki.

Claiming

You can protect your creation from being edited by others by adding the

{{T|Your Name Here}}

template at the top of your page. Unless otherwise stated in the template, no one is allowed to edit the page without your permission. Anyone who violates this rule will be automatically blocked for 1 month without exception. The Staff are exempt from this policy.

Language and Grammar

  • All articles must be written primarily in English.
  • Articles must be formatted for readability. Avoid overly long paragraphs without breaks.
  • Articles must use proper grammar. Ch4t5p34K, L33T, txtspeak, and shortened words (e.g., "u," "thnx," "lolz") are not allowed in articles.

Note: If you are having problems due to being new to English or otherwise, ask a Staff Member for help.

Article Length

All content articles must include at least a template and a brief description. For fangames, the article must contain a description, a complete story premise, a short character list, and details about the setting. A simple list of weapons or vehicles does not qualify as a fangame. This policy is in place to prevent users from spamming short or incomplete articles.

"Stubs" or very short articles, if abandoned for a long time, will be deleted.

Article's Category

Every article must have at least one category, otherwise it will be deleted. The following categories are used for projects:

In addition to the categories above, all types of project must also include a category for which universe it sets. For example: “Category:HD Universe” for fanmade GTA IV DLCs. If you make your own custom universe, don't forget to place its category and main page (if any) in the "Category:Universes".

For other kinds of content, these categories are used. You must also put articles for projects in a separate subcategory, such as "Category:Characters in (Project Name)". Check each category's page for rules of using subcategories. Do not add unnecessary categories as it will also be a punishable offense.

Multimedia

Multimedia includes any media file that is posted here: image, video, artwork, audio, and other files.

  • Image/video names must be descriptive. For example, if the image is a fan-made box-art, a good name would be "GTAGame-BoxArt" or something along those lines. An unacceptable name would be "IMG_1972873917UAIQN" or any other nonsense or unnamed title of that sort. Files that fail to follow this policy will be deleted.
  • Unnecessary files or files that do not relate to GTA, or the content of the article it was uploaded for, will be deleted.
  • Blurry images/videos will be deleted.
  • Files that are uploaded but not used in any article will be deleted.
  • Poorly drawn paint artworks will be deleted.
  • Inappropriate, gruesome, or pornographic images/videos posted will be immediately deleted and the uploader will be permanently blocked without any notice.
  • In addition to the general rules above, we advised you to seek permission from the original artwork's creator in case it's not your own works. This is especially true for vehicle-related multimedia such as modded pictures and sketches.
