Groundway Gardens Apartment Homes, more commonly known by residents as Z Block, and formerly WIIK City is an publicly owned apartment complex based in the Greater Magnificent Junction neighborhood in South Side Champaign. It was built through 1945 to 1950, by renowned architect James Hamilton, and was the first Apartment Complex to be co-operatively owned by African-Americans. In recent years, however, the complex has become synonymous with crime and gang warfare, with the 'Z Block/WIIK City' faction of Project Disciples residing there, PDs were the prominent force on the block since the 1990's.
