- ❝Doesn't this classic van look great? With its circular headlights, curvy design, and absolutely disastrous emissions, any car enthusiast could ID this as a 1960s RUNE Metro from the Soviet Union. Until we tell you this is actually brand new, with the most recent design change being different mirrors in 2017. Remember, if it isn't broken, don't fix it.❞
- — Southern San Andreas Super Autos description.
The RUNE Metro is a classic van featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of The S.A.H.P. Update.
Design[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
The Metro is mostly based on the UAZ-452 in both design and background, sporting a classic appearance with modern internals. The design shares some elements of the Volkswagen Type 2 T2, notably in the headlights, logo placement, and default rims. The grille resembles the lower grille of the Volkswagen Type 2 T3. The rear lights resemble those of the first-generation Ford E-Series, placed lower near the bumper.
The Metro only has three doors: the driver's door, the front passenger's door, and one outward-swinging door at the rear, from which all other occupants enter and exit. The interior is modernized and shared with other vans of its type. The rear compartment consists of two bench seats, fitting two people each, facing each other. The floor has a brown carpet, but is otherwise grey like the floor in the front compartment.
The vehicle's European license plate design, shared with the Pigalle, overwrites the default license plate.
Performance[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
The Metro has very handling, grip, and braking for its class, and it has much less crash deformation than other vehicles of its class. Its high clearance and bouncy suspension make it ideal for off-roading. However, its acceleration is sluggish and its top speed is somewhat slow, making it less ideal for races or situations that require quick getaways.
The Metro has a small 4-cylinder engine placed in the front of the vehicle. It makes a smooth sound when revving, and clatters when idling.

Trivia[]
- The Metro's description noting its classic design, yet relatively recent production, is a reference to the UAZ-452, which has been in production with minimal changes since 1965.
- The Metro was supposed to have liveries, but they were removed for unknown reasons. The few skins that still exist in the game files are a Russian military ambulance, a blue-and-yellow Ukrainian design, and a rusted design.
