Nexus City AFTERMATH is a standalone spin-off game in the HD Universe that was released in 2026.

It tells the ending of the story of Blake K. Johnson XIII and Katrina Pedersen as they venture for the final time to stop yet another threat to Nexus City.

Missions[]

Prologue: Blake, having just returned from John's funeral, ponders his persistence on Earth. He expresses his doubts about continuing forth as all his closest friends have since passed on. Katrina seems to be experiencing similar doubts.

CHAPTER 1: Tanssit on Loppu Nyt (The Dances are Over Now)[]

REVENGE?: Word comes from Gjåñõ Þë̆rrhõnäi Ț'rhë̄h of Kentauros that Novon has sent out a revenge mission against Blake for the death of their beloved oppressor Aureus.
A Bout of Bad Luck: Katrina finds herself on the receiving end of a bout of bad luck. She is targeted by the most violent gang in Nexus City, the Č̣a̖y jġaľī!ǡf̰ą̈hf (Cetian for The End of Humanity) which is secretly being mind-controlled by Novon's Pro-Aureus forces.
Aleph One: Johann Pielinen and Mikaela Van Buren, currently vacationing in one of Alephis' many resorts, suddenly find themselves in an interspecies gunfight as Nova forces descend and rain hell down on the planet. Blake and Katrina intervene and force the Nova to retreat for now.
Ïtah dën Štauhi! (The Earth is in Ashes! - KOBAÏAN): The Q̰ả̯áẋ̦i̊ N̥x̃ Ăwũr̆ŕêííų̀s̓, recently forced off of Alephis, decide to attack Earth again. This goes horribly wrong, as they failed to account for the presence of a Blake K. Johnson XIII and a Katrina Pedersen-Johnson, who scare off the interlopers.
The Fall: As Blake manages to scare off the Qaaxi Nx Awurreiius from his planet, he forgets about Alephis, and swiftly returns to try and save the planet, but fails and instead evacuates the entire population to Earth. He then strikes a deal with the King of Alephis, that if the Nova Flood is repelled, the King will use his civilization's advanced technology to bring Blake and Katrina's close ones back.

CHAPTER 2: Fur Dï Hël Kobaïa (For Eternal Life)[]

Remember, that your death is inevitable: Blake, returning from Alephis, is attacked by Nova forces. His chip is damaged, and he realizes that this is going to be his last year.
Defiance of Mortality: Blake checks the first thing off his bucket list by stealing from Area 69, using his real name now that he is going to be dead anyway.
Thánatos tēs psychês (Death of the soul - Greek): Blake realizes that now he is aging at a slow pace. He did not have any conditions, apart from his chip failing to maintain his body.
Môùllãnåù Ëłłòôs (Oblivion Awaits - South Kentauri):
Ẁurdah Undazïr (Dead Vision - KOBAÏAN): In a fit of rage, Blake calls on the forces of Novon to come and get him. He prepares intensely for the fight by robbing Area 69 again to obtain any more technology.

CHAPTER 3: Theusz Hïndïts (Arduous Times)[]

A Last Glimpse of the Land Being Lost Forever: Blake, having come to terms with his impending death, fights off members of the Cetian mafia, who were exiled to the Earth by Ceti's government.
Aleph Nul: Johann and Mikaela, who are still fighting the Nau Von, watch the planet around them slowly corrupt. They evacuate on board a Nau Von shuttle they stole, but then realize they're not the only ones onboard.
Ą̀ǩ āõ̉n̨ h̄x̧åp'h sḛ̇ĵ nã íțk̓a̧p'h. (At one's discomfort in my presence - 21940AD NOVA): Mikaela encounters a defector from the Nau Von forces, named Čɛ̆r̥ʼħ R̈ɑ̏ɱə S̋ȁɑ́ʝ̂. He allows her and Johann to escape to Earth, and fights off the Nau Von for them.

CHAPTER 4: Fate will have its way...[]

Everything is on the point of decline: Blake notices himself losing his consciousness for gradually longer periods of time. He realizes that the chip's failure is causing his brain to hemorrhage, worsening his mental health, and bringing on rapidly-worsening dementia (BLAKE IS UNPLAYABLE BETWEEN THIS AND THE NEXT MISSIONS AS A RESULT).
Increasingly Absorbed in His Own World: Katrina is scared by Blake's worsening mental health brought on by the chip's decay. She tries to fix it as best as she can, and succeeds temporarily after many attempts.
C'est la vie qui les a menés là! (It's life that got them there!): Blake, with temporarily fixed chip, can now continue his counterattack on Novon.
L̰aïh χyïh a Nëar̃haẋa (Back to the void - 21940 THARSIAN): Katrina feels her life energy slowly slipping away, and realizes that this must be the work of the Nau Von flood.
Y̗r̆̐r̆ āh́ Ẋąq̒e̗h́ř̥ë̏l̰m̥šą̈ẙ̌/ɪ̗̈ɺɹ ɑ̥̉ːħ ʕąqʼéħʀə̏ɮ̦ɱ̧ʂ̍æ̨̃ɥ̌ (In the void - 21940 CETIAN): Katrina, having fixed the energy drain problem, eases Blake back into living, and resolves all his problems.

CHAPTER 5: The Night We Died[]

FINAL FIGHT: The final fight in the story begins here and now.
ĖI JUÅ'HIM ËN "JÅ'HIM" GJÅŁÃM (I WAS THE GREAT "I AM" - SOUTH KENTAURI) Blake, while fighting, reminisces about his glory days, lamenting how they've long since passed, but seeking comfort in knowing that soon he'll be reunited with his friends and family.
ËHN DEÏSS
MAY HE RETURN TO THE VOID FROM WHENCE HE CAME: Blake, while fighting, damages his chip beyond repair reducing his time left to live to 3 hours.
THE END: The Servants of Aureus are finally eliminated, but at a major price...

Extra Post-Ending Mission (Johann & Mikaela only)[]

Funëhrarïüm Kanht (Funerary Chants): This is the funeral of Blake and Katrina Johnson.

ENDING[]

— Blake's last words, cut off as his body fails.

Blake and Katrina are outside the reactor chamber of the Nawan vessel they infiltrated. Blake has to use an exoskeleton to move at this point, even then it is weak and uncoordinated. They prepare for a gunfight, and then they enter. What Blake sees upon entry shocks him to the core. Aureus, despot of Nawan is in fact alive after all, and is coordinating this attempted destruction of the Solar System. Blake and Katrina try to rush in for the kill, but Aureus's soldiers gun Katrina down almost immediately, with a shot hitting her in the exact location of her immortality implement. Katrina is seemingly killed almost instantly, and this sends Blake into an almost incoherent rage.

Seizing the opportunity, he slaughters each and every one of the soldiers, and tries to attack Aureus, but he is sent back. Aureus throws a sword his way, and challenges Blake to a rematch of their previous duel, with the victor deciding the fate of the Solar System. A clash ensues, with Blake's body slowly failing throughout, but he prevails nonetheless. He stabs Aureus through the heart, and the latter falls to the ground. Aureus admits defeat and allows Blake to carry out the final strike.

The battle is over, but Blake is unable to celebrate. He has lost everything and everyone, and now he is about to die. He runs to Katrina's body, but stops short of her and limps. Every single one of his prosthetics fails and explodes, causing him to be thrown down the reactor shaft. His eyesight fails right before he enters, and he does not see his disintegration.

Katrina wakes up, unable to stand. She sees the beheaded body of Aureus near the reactor shaft, and concludes that Blake is victorious, although she doesn't see him. She realizes what has happened and tries to drag herself towards the shaft, but the vessel starts to collapse, and she is sent into it by force of gravity. She too disintegrates, and hallucinates the soul of Blake welcoming her to the afterlife. The ship explodes afterwards, and its fragments crash down off the coast of Nexus City. Johann and Mikaela arrive at the scene realizing something has gone horribly wrong, and the credits roll.

At the end of the credits, the game SWITCHes to Johann, at his house with Mikaela by his side, sleeping.

Trivia[]

This game is the canonical end to the Johnson Family's struggles for survival. It is also the last game to continue the original Nexus City storyline.
The Intro music is Elämän Kovat Koulut (The hard schools of life) by Karjalan Sissit.
The Credits music is Kiitan Puolestani (Thank you for me), followed by Någon Vacker Dag Far Du Smaka På Finn Yxan Javla Rip-Off Gubbe, both by Karjalan Sissit.
