Nioka (Japanese: ニオカ) is a Japanese car manufacturer featured in HD Universe.

Description[]

Nioka was shown in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas as an unknown car manufacturer, as a data file titled carcols.dat, along with Shitsu (later Shitzu), one known brand (Maibatsu) and Kunst. This implies that in the beta version of San Andreas, there were likely going to add these brands, but were likely removed. Maibatsu and Shitsu (currently known as Shitzu) are added, except Nioka and Kunst.

Maibatsu Motors co-exists with Nioka, means that Nioka is owned by Maibatsu. The company also has a number of subsidiaries and joint ventures, including TS Trucks, Timur-Nioka Sanayi A.Ş. (shortly known as either Tinoka or NiTim, a Turkish joint venture with Timur and Kalem & Özal Group), Nioka Ulyanovsk (a Russian joint venture with Shvertsoff JSC), Moldar (Ukraine, based on Bogdan), Nioka Motors Indonesia, Nioka Malaysia, Nioka UAE, Nioka UK, Nioka South Africa, Wingding Motors, Nioka Philippines, Taiwan Nioka Motors, Nioka Vietnam, Nioka Motors India and DRM Nioka.

Nioka designs most trucks and cars, which is likely that it is based on Isuzu, with other cars from other compaines (Honda, Nissan, Daihatsu, Suzuki, Kia, Cony, Mitsuoka, Derways, Ligier and others) as well. The design of the Nioka vehicles majorly has Isuzu a-like grille deslgn, unless bear to be in a similar form of Amolofos. Also, Nioka manufactures motorcycles as well, which are moslty based on SYM Motorcycles.

Marketing/Contracts[]

In most of Asia and Africa, Nioka is known primarily for trucks of all sizes, after Nioka dropped all sales of sedans and compact cars in the mid-late 1990s due to plummeting sales (and the sales rose up in earty 2000's). In the days when Nioka sold passenger cars, they were known for focusing on the diesel-engined niche. In 1982, for instance, long before the explosion in diesel sales, diesels represented 65.2% of their passenger car production. On January 31, 2008, Nioka Motors America ceased selling passenger vehicles in the United States for a period of time. The company informed its dealers that it had been unable to secure commercially viable replacements for the Nioka Sutanda and Nioka Imoto 270. In 2006, Nioka sold 7,012 automobiles. In the United States, this action had no impact on Nioka's commercial vehicle or industrial diesel engine operations. Expenditure Truck Rental has a contract with Nioka to manufacture rental trucks, which is shared by Vapid, Brute, and MTL.

On the manufacturing commercial vehicles, Nioka has various production plants around South-East asia and Europe.

In the 1990s, Nioka have an agreement with Maibatsu to produce the engine for the Sandking Raid which was used in Dakar Rally races. They used permission to Vapid to use the name Sandking.

Nioka had contracts with Indonesian and Malaysian police forces to produce AQN 5, Ahokochi, Malam, Mesiah 370, and Dearcase (marketed as Ultimatum in Indonesia and Malaysia) for a "prestige" set of police motorcycles. The Sarai was originally built in Vietnam, AQN 5 and Skifter in Malaysia, KBN in the Philippines, and Terbit in the UAE, as the first standalone Nioka model made in the UAE.

In addition, they have an agreement with Dinka to rebrand the Blista FM MPV as Tensai in northern regions of Russia, Mexico, Thailand and South Africa (as Toursman). They also have an agreement with Bordeaux to produce the Kinezumi in France. Nioka also agreed with Albany to rebrand the Manana Hatch as Aurora in Europe, Japan and United States, Pravesh in Portugal and Festus in Bulgaria and Romania. Also, Nioka had an agreement with Declasse to rebrand the Merit 2000 year model as Klan in Brunei and Granger as Kamparano in Laos and Iceland.

They also make engines of buses in eastern european market after the fall of Soviet Union, which the plant was headquarted in Ukraine, refering to Bogdan buses, which are powered by Isuzu and marketed outside Ukraine under Isuzu brand. Nioka also manufactures electric engines for trucks, with a plant in Indonesia building the engines, particularly for future trucks in Ukraine (reference to Bogdan ERCV27), when a contract is signed with Moldar's vice president to have it approved. Moldar Corporation provided the first electric truck ELT for loading solid household waste in November 2018 as part of a contract with America's Coil and Nioka Indonesia (the plant for Nioka's electric engines). Also this month, "Moldar" pre-termed a deal with the Ministry of Defense for the production and supply of sanitary cars Moldar 2715 to Ukraine's Armed Forces.

Nioka Kyoro in Bulgaria

Nioka Kyoro was known as the SUV of Bulgaria

Meanwhile, back in the 1997, after the production of the Kyoro SUV for the Europe, for the first time, Nioka stated that Kyoro will be also produced for the Bulgarian Police and Bulgarian Army and will be the mascot of the 1998 European Badminton Championships, which will be held at Bulgaria of course. It was produced in Bulgaria after United Kingdom, beyond Portugal (which was produced as Prestígio), making Bulgaria the third European country for Kyoro assembly in Europe. The Kyoro began to be utilized for the Bulgarian Police in 1998, with another version based on the 1997 Nioka Kyoro for the Bulgarian Army, known as the Nioka Yasteb, named from the Bulgarian word yastreb/стрe, which means hawk in Bulgarian. From 1998 to 2001, some Yastebs were exported to the Portuguese Army, Romanian Army, and Bosnian Army (as Nioka Bushnak). Sofia, Bulgaria, was the first European 2006 Nioka Kyoro manufacturing and assembly center, establishing Kyoro as the SUV of Bulgaria in also both 2006 and 2007 after the 1997 model in Bulgaria. Nioka Kyoro 2006 model was stopped producing lately in Bulgaria in 2017, one year after the new model relase which was also known as the SUV of Indonesia.

2016 Nioka Kyoro

Nioka Kyoro's 2016 model in Indonesia

During the introduction of the new Kyoro (Dyazad in Indonesia, and Karin Chopmaster in other markets), Nioka says, "This design grew up from the glorius pedigree of the glorius streak that not only makes it a new-generation supreme part, but nonetheless, wants to carve out its own niche right immediately now, just as if we would like to do it on a personal basis.". Making reference to being completely brand-new during this time period, making it unavailable for the Japanese and American market, with the exception of some in Continental Europe and Chile, albeit it's rarely found. The front bumper, radiator grille, and bonnet were all redesigned exterior. The bumper has a two-tone finish, while the grille has faux carbon-fibre trim. A new integrated chrome lining highlight runs over the headlight and radiator grille, as well as restyled tail lights with combination LEDs and smoked lenses. Fog lights, silver wing mirror covers, and a leather steering wheel and gear knob are among the optional features on the 1.5S.

Nioka has also signed an agreement with Timur, a Turkish vehicle manufacturer, to form a joint venture in Bursa, Turkey. Nioka-badged cars include the Revenant (based on the Isuzu D-MAX), STR (based on the Isuzu FSR "Tora," LTA (based on the Isuzu NPR), LTB (based on the Isuzu NLR), Airavata (based on the Isuzu Visigo), Argenti (based on the Isuzu Citimark) and Galard C (based on the Isuzu Roybus C), while Timur-badged cars include the Bergen, Portret, CT-Series (Lite and Pro), Katana (based on Isuzu Kendo) and Qaraboğa (based on Isuzu Grand Toro). Nioka debuted the new Revenant 2021 model, first on ElectricHit with the commercial "Hayaller için yeniden tasarlandı, gururun yolunu açtı", alongside with the launch live broadcast interview with İsmail Çetin with the description saying ''Özel bir konuk ve zengin içerikle tamamlanan yeni Nioka Revenant'ın Türkiye'deki lansmanına katılın!''.

Wingding Guowang

Wingding Guowang was based on Nioka Revenant's platform.

For the Indonesian markets, Nioka produced the Kyoro SUV as Dyazad (spelt as Diazad) (from Dya/দ্য, ''the'' in Bengal and Azad, Iranian/Turkic word for free, as if someone was free from despair), Kourè as Denaga (from Tenaga, which means Energy/Power from Indonesian), Kourè GT as Denaga GT, Kourè Z as Denaga Z, Hesita as Penarik (which means Carrier in Indonesian), and Angora Kasei as Angora X.

Guowang, the Chinese pickup truck, was the first pickup truck of the Wingding brand, with technology heavily based on the Nioka Revenant due to Nioka and Wingding Motors' cooperation in the Chinese market. The Guowang's interior includes an 8-inch color display with navigation, bluetooth, WiFi, mobile connection, reverse camera, voice control, and an optional onboard camera. The cargo bed of the Guowang measures 1800mm long, 1540mm wide, and 480mm deep. The cargo bed is elevated 850mm above the ground.

Trivia[]

  • The company's name, "Nioka", has an unusually odd spelling, rather than something usual, but it could be any of these guesses...
    • The name itself could be a combination of に (Ni), which means to-/by-, and おか (Oka), which means hill. The manufacturer's name meaning would be "To/By hill" after the combination. It could allude to Nissan's name, which has a meaning derived from the combination of these Japanese letters, ni ("sun") and ssan ("product" or "birth"), which would produce "The Rising Sun" by coincidence. This could lead to "Nioka" becoming the beta name for Annis, which is based on Nissan, and also Mazda as well.
    • If these words were combined, it would also translate to "smell", if done the combination in another way, also the name was similar to ''Nioi/におい'', which also means smell, as if from the ''sensation'' of ''smell'', but also it means odor. On the other side, the term is akin to "nioi o kanjiru/においをかんじる," which translates as "experience the smell."
    • The name of this company is also a surname in Japan, though it is not a common surname; according to Forebears records from 2014, 4695 people in Japan have this surname, with 1,895 people in DR Congo and others by each country with less than 100 have this surname.
    • The name of the car manufacturer was seemingly delivered from Nio, Kagawa, a town located in Mitoyo District, Kagawa Prefecture, Japan. On the official websites in HD Universe, it says that the company was headquartered at Kagawa, but not in Nio, instead in Marugame, where the company is headquartered in.
      • More over, this would perhaps refer Isuzu's one of old logos, which ran from 1974–1991, as on of the former flag of Marugame being identical to each other, while the old Isuzu logo represent the meaning of "Isuzu", "fifty bells". One old Nioka's logo is bearing to Marugame's flag, with the cues of the old Isuzu logo.
    • The name of the car manufacturer also refers a town named Nioki, which was located in Mai-Ndombe Province in DR Congo.
    • Also, ''Nioka'' word is similar to the japanese word Nikka (Japanese: にっか), which means daily routine/work.
    • Alternatively, the name could be formed from the infamous N-word (N****r).
  • Ever through the manufacturer was Japanese, the Sekai is a vehicle being based on the Kia Niro, which was a Korean car. This might refer to Daewoo vehicles like Daewoo Magnus and Daewoo Lacetti, two South Korean vehicles being rebadged by Suzuki, a Japanese vehicle manufacturing company.
    • And most of the bikes are based on SYM Motorcycles, which are originating from Taiwan.
  • It's ironic that Nioka still manufactures passenger cars. However, in real life, Isuzu ceased the development and manufacture of all small passenger cars in 1993, including the re-badge, and has focused only on commercial vehicles since 2002.
