Person Nation is an alliance of street gangs generally associated with the Champaign area. They are rivals of the Kin Nation alliance of gangs.

Formation[]

The Person Nation was formed in reaction to the creation of the Kin Nation alliance of gangs. In 1978, the Blackrock Army (now Black G. Rocks), Wicked Kings and Spanish Lords formed an alliance system of their own, and titled it the "Persons".

John Lawrence of the Blackrock Army, Mikey Hunt of the Wicked Kings, and Eduardo Santos of the Spanish Lords were instrumental in the forming of this alliance. Among initial members to the Persons were the Black Vipers (then named the Viper Rocks), Insane X, Spanish Lords, soon after the Madlords and the South Side Fathers.

Symbols[]

Gangs demonstrate their particular alignment by "representing" through symbols, colors, graffiti, hand signs, and words. Representing also encompasses physical orientation to the right side of the body. The Person Nation Gangs wear all identifiers to the right. An earring in the right, a right pants leg rolled up, and a cap tilted to the right may all indicate affiliation to the alliance. This is because the right side of the body is opposite to where the heart is, meaning that they are heartless.

The Person Nation's hand sign is thrown to the right arm. The gang members fold their arms in a manner that is pointed to the right. The Person Nation alliance in most instances uses a four-pointed star in their gang graffiti.

The four-pointed star has its origins with the Blackrock Army/Black G. Rock Army Nation, one of the larger street gangs. The alliance's term "death to six, four for more" is in reference to the four-pointed star versus the six-pointed star of their rivals in the Kin Nation alliance. Commonly used by the Person Nation alliance are drawings of horns pointed down in disrespect to the Kin Nation alliance.

Trivia[]
