The Flight of the Goose is a Random Event in Grand Theft Auto Online, first introduced in the Mach Limit update, as part of Naval Week.

Description[]

The random event can trigger anywhere in Blaine County, providing the following conditions are met:

  • The player is in a session that is at least 20 minutes old.
  • The player is in a Public session with at least 2 players.
  • The player is within Blaine County.
  • The player is operating any weaponised aircraft.

An F-94 Goose will be found flying around Blaine County at high altitude. Firing at the aircraft will cause it to change its course and land at Sandy Shores Airfield. If the player lands in close proximity to the grounded aircraft, the two pilots will exit and start shooting at the player. The player can either kill them or leave.

If the player decides to hijack the F-94 Goose, they will get a text from Dallas asking them to bring it to the workshop. If the player does this, they will be awarded $25000 and one Aircraft Parts slot will be used.

Influence[]

The event may be loosely based on the 1986 action movie Top Gun.

The two pilots of the F-94 Goose seem to be likenesses of two key characters Pete “Maverick” Mitchell and Nick “Goose” Bradshaw.

The F-94 Goose itself is based on the Grumman F-14 Tomcat, another reference to the movie seeing as the F-14A was used in the movie.
