Born after a late night affair involving the Vamos and a German friend, the Declasse Turmalina proved to be the faux American car that Brazil needed, even if it didn't substantially change for three decades: the Coupé was famous amongst the ones that wanted speed, the Ametista could be your daily family driver or a cheap ambulance, and the Sedan was a hit between various police departments, government officials, and the booming high-class of 80's São Paulo. It was even exported to other countries, too; just don't mention its name in Chile. It brings back ugly memories.
