The Varrios Los Aztecas, also known as VLA 16, or simply Aztecas, is a chicano based street gang, appearing in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas HD.
Information[]
The VLA are a street gang based in Rancho, South LS, and Sunrise Shore, Palomino Beach. They are a Bajos based gang, with connections to the La 'P' (Mexican Protection) prison network. The gang is rather small compared to other Bajos gangs, which have sets spread across the entirety of Southern San Andreas, such as the Vagos. They are also known to beef all surrounding Bajos sets in Los Santos County and possibly more, though they have some allies in Blaine and San Julio Counties. The gang is an allied faction during the events of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas HD and it's DLC, and is led by Cesar Vialpando during the events of those games.
History[]
The Aztecas began as a gang in the northern area of Rancho, during the 1950's, around this time various Chicano gangs would appear across Los Santos County, such as the Vespucci Locos, the Vagos (which had existed since the 1920's but saw rapid expansion during the 50's and 60's), and the East Side Palomino Boys (which would go to to become the Eastside Palominos 16. The Aztecas would join the Bajos network not long after their founding, though originally allied with the LSV16, after some Vagos beat up the younger brother of an Aztecas OG, the two gangs began to grow a rivalry. Despite the fact that LSV outnumbered the Aztecas 4:1, VLA16 would survive the following decades.
1980's[]
Young teenager Cesar Vialpando and his friends were often harassed by Vagos members for dealing drugs on their turf, after on of his friends was brutally attacked, the group decided on joining the Aztecas. Over the years Cesar would become an OG and eventual leader of the gang, helping expand VLA operations in South and East LS, organising Lowrider meets and competitions, which the VLA would dominate for years to come.
Events of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas HD[]
By 1992, the VLA were a formidable force in the Chicano Street Gang scene, despite this the distribution of hard drugs on their turf by the Vagos had cause the influence to wane over recent years.
